Today was Valentine’s Day! A day to show love and receive some in return! To show some love and have a little fun myself, I went with a few friends out shopping this evening on Oxford Street and discovered Selfridges- a ridiculously expensive store, but it had some really awesome products! fore example, as seen in the picture here, they had many different types of sugar cubes for teas and coffee. Along with these candied hearts and roses, there were birds that perched on the edge, puzzle pieces, frogs, simple rectangles, and of course rock candy on a stick, which can also be used for stirring!
Another thrilling aspect of the store was it’s American branded food, including Gushers, Hershey bars and syrup, American pancake batter and syrup, instant grits, Kraft Mac N cheese, Crisco, Lucky Charms, Jelly Belly, JIF peanut butter, and Smucker’s grape jelly, and a few others as well. These items too were over priced, but not by nearly as much as they would have been , had we attempted to order them on line. It was very exciting for our small group of Americans, and when we returned, we had pizza and chocolate from our Valentine’s Day treats together. All in all, the day was pretty sweet!

I saw something that irked me today. I was on campus, simpl
y walking to the bus stop after class to go home, when I saw a crowd in the Tate courtyard and many students staring. I looked over to see a man on the platform, yelling at the group of students before him. I couldn’t even understand what it was he was saying- just that he was yelling. I saw as I walked that there was a young girl at the bottom of the platform talking intensely to him, as if she was trying to reason with him, but I couldn’t hear what she said at all because of the distance that separated us.
I couldn’t understand all of what the man’s response was to whatever she had said, only that it was something to the effect of: ” Well, if you spoke to the lost as much as you’re flapping your tongue right now, you might be a decent Christian!” Then not five seconds later, the man said to the guy standing next to the young woman, “Well, boyfriend, are you a fornicator?”
